Nigar Fatema is a female entrepreneur of local products. Born and raised in Dhaka, she completed her SSC and HSC from Viqarunnisa Noon School & College. She then completed her graduation and post-graduation in ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING from the American International University Bangladesh (AIUB). While studying in university, she published two research papers. After completing her studies, she worked in an educational institution for two years.
Towards the end of 2019, Niger Fatema started working in the e-commerce industry. As an entrepreneur, she was planning to do something new. She then become interested to work with handwoven products of Bangladesh and decided to work with Tangail Khesh saree. The history of khesh saree in Bangladesh can be traced back to 1920. This saree was produced in Shantinikentan. As an entrepreneur working with Bangladeshi products, she wanted to tell people about the handwoven saree of Bangladesh.
She mainly runs her business through website and Facebook. She also developed content on khesh saree to let people know about this amazing product. Within a very short time, large number of people came to know about khesh saree and sales increased. Now there are many customers khesh sareen in Bangladesh as well as in other countries. Niger Fatema introduced new design concepts in khesh saree which appealed to the test of young customers of Bangladesh. She also developed a syllabus which will be useful for young students and future entrepreneurs of local products.
She is currently serving as the Vice President of the E-Commerce Development Center. She wants to help the young people of Bangladesh to achieve their dreams.
